Whats his rifle?Standard use of holster ?

Yes, DSWA for sure. Rifle looks like a standard G98 or possibly a Schutztruppe Gewehr 98. Can anyone confirm that?

And yes, standard use of holster. I guess butt downwards was more likely to stay in the holster when galloping around.

I'm pretty sure the rifle's a 98.I've read they carried the rifle butt down in the bucket with their arm through the sling to stabilize it.
