Marine Feld Comp DOA

Post by Chris Dale » 28 Oct 2023 16:29

Hello all,
I'm looking for help identfying the unit to which this cap tally belonged. Any clues would be appreciated.
Cheers
Chris

Never heard about this or seen such a badge.

There exist only a "Koenigsberg Field Company" in 1916, but without such a description or badge.

Is there a year associated with it? (I assume you've checked that it's not fake!?)

Hi Holger,
Thanks for your opinion, I agree. I've never heard of such a unit. I don't know if its a fake or what it's origins are. I was asking in case they were a unit that I had missed.
Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,

I could not find your ribbon in:
Die Mützenbänder der kaiserlichen Deutschen Marine 1848 - 1920
Horst Rivier
Lang & Hopf GmbH Kolbermoor 1980

However (isn’t there always a ‘however’), there is a ‘Marine.Exp. Korps Deutsch Ost-Afrika’. Close, but no cigar!
Not much help I am afraid, but I would not right of your ribbon just yet.

Regards,
Ian

It must be an earlier version.

Until or around the end of the 19th century, the word was spelled in
German as it appears on the alleged cap band: Compagnie, later Kompanie

Thanks for checking Ian,
I looked there too and yes it's not quite matching the Marine Exp Korps of the Maji Maji era.
Cheers
