How to roll a cameroon fez?

Post by Reichskolonialamt » 14 Jul 2006 14:06

There are very few items left. And good pictures of them are rare.
Look at these examples. You recognize the different style?
Was there an explizit kind of rolling the fez, or did it anyone like he wanted to do?

The Imperial War Museum (IWM) pic is from Chris Dales site. The other one out of R. Schneiders book.

Arne

I only know these two photos.

I believe that have only one type of rollfez.

And these two pics, the Chris photo of IWM the roll fez is not totaly rolled, The kamerun soldat can
be adjust to the fit of head, and he can rolled more, or less than others soldiers.

And the Schneider photo, the rollfez is totaly rolled. It´s only pull up the edge of rollfez to adjusting.

Cheers

Cristiano.

Actually, not only the German Schutztruppe wore the rolled fez. It was also worn by the constabluary in British Nigeria. Apparently it was a common hat worn by the Haussas in the region in this rolled style.
