Leutnant der Reserve Fritz Zimmermann moved to Australia after being released by the Japanese.

From: http://www.tsingtau.info/
Zimmermann, Fritz
*16.09.1884;
03.10.1906 Eintritt in die Marine-Infanterie, 18.11.1912 Leutnant der Reserve; Kaufmann bei Firma Arnhold Karberg & Co., Toenghsien;
08.1914 in der 7. Kompanie des III. Seebataillons;
1915 gefangen im Lager Osaka (Gef.-Nr. 4621, Heimatort: Oberhausen, Provinz Rheinland), 19.02.1917 im Lager Ninoshima

Has anyone anything else on this officer?

Hello, I am running http://www.tsingtau.info, and of course very interested to know more about Zimmermann's time in Australia. When did he arrive there?

There was an article about the Zimmermann family in a South Australian newspaper a few years ago.South Australia had a large community of German-Australians.His journals and papers were still held by his daughter(or granddaughter) indicating that he died in Australia.He came out Australia in the 1920s I think.

That is very interesting! Is it possible to find the newspaper or to make a contact with the family?

Welcome to the forum klotzke.
