Japanese invasion of Shandong in 1914

Post by Seesoldat » 10 Jan 2007 14:53

From different sources the Japanese Commanders (Admiral Kamimura with 26 ships) and Divisions/Brigades (Gen Kamlo with 18th Infantry from Kurume) are known to the public.

But what seems to be unknown is the use of these forces after their landing near Lungkou near Laitschou on the northern shore of Shandong. Which exact forces used which routes to march towards the German possession of Tsingtao and which exact forces marched alongside the Shandong Railway to occupy the capital of Shandong, Jinan?

The Japanese started their advance on September 05th and got first in contact with German patrols close to Tsimo. Which Japanese units fougt the skirmish there on September 12th and afterwards on the banks of the Paischaho on September 13th?

May anybody out there give any help?

Markus

Hi Marcus,

I don't know much about the movements of Japanese troops in this campaign. It might be worth asking the same question in the "Japan at War 1895-1945" section of this forum at http://forum.axishistory.com/viewforum.php?f=65

Cheers
Chris
