Great photos! Thank you for posting them. It does look like a beautiful city and quite unlike any other Chinese city I've seen in photos.
Did you get any photos of the Governor's house? Did you go to the Navy Museum?
If any readers recognise these buildings from old photos of the German period perhaps we can peice together a "then and now" type of display?

Yes, that's my point! Qingdao is a more fashionable and advanced city than Shanghai or Beijing. It's unbelievable that there is such a city in China! Qingdao resembles Seoul in the early 1990s while Shanghai and Beijing are similar to Seoul in the late 1980s. It looks like there are two countries in mainland China: The People's Republic of China and the Republic of Qingdao (青岛共和国):lol:

Ba Da Guan (八大关), the tourist area famous for many European-style villas

Hua Shi Lou (花石楼) was built by a Russian aristocrat in 1932 and later used by Jiang Jie-Shi (蔣介石) as his villa during the Chinese Civil War.

Ba Da Guan, especially Hua Shi Lou is one of China's great centers for wedding photography.

Beautiful photos, even if they're connection to Colonial Imperial Germany is esoteric at best. Please keep them coming and enjoy yourself!

Ba Da Guan Hotel (八大关宾馆)famous for accomodating foreign VIPs who visit China. Jiang Ze-Min (江泽民)、Li Feng (李鹏)、Zhu Rong-Ji (朱熔基) and Hu Jin-Tao (胡锦涛) also stayed in this famous hotel.

Former German governor's residence (德国总督官邸)built in 1907 and used as the Qingdao reception hall (迎宾馆) since 1934
