Gneisenau 1910-1911, Far East, ~180 photos

I've started posting scans of the 180 or so photos taken during the 1910-1911 deployment of S.M.S. Gneisenau to the Far East. The dates and ports of call visited on the way there are listed below. There's a composite photo of a chart of the travels at the end of this post.

WARNING: Some images in this collection, particularly those depicting death or (nonsexual) nudity, may be disturbing to some viewers. I'll mark the sets that contain potentially disturbing images.

This officer sits extreme at the left.At he on a sleeve a sign on Korvettenkapitän.

Thank you for your observation there. It's an interesting photo that one, to see the Officers Mess Uniform, don't often see those.

Great photos again!

It appears then that Kronprinz Wilhelm travelled to India 1910-11 on the Gneisenau( I don't know if this was both ways).Its said he picked up an Indian mistress there and took up a dope habit.

This photo from the Bundesarchiv shows him in India with British cavalry troopers.

Thanks Alex, for posting these great photos. They really are great to see. I didn't know the Crown Prince went out to India. It sounds from Peter's description that he had a great time over there! I've very curious about his tropical helmet... are there any photos that show the front of it clearly?

Chris, I took a look and I don't see many photos of that helmet at all. There is a remote chance that it's in the second half of the album, though (after the Far East trip). I'll look through that part again later.
