I am looking for a English language book that gives a good overview of the German East Africa campaign and the campaigns of Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck, any suggestions?
Thanks.

overview of the German East Africa campaign
"The Great War in Africa" by Bryon Farwell. Includes Togoland, Kamerun and S.W. Afrika. However about two thirds of the book is on Ost Afrika.
This may interest you. And it's free on line.

An excellent paper on the Battle of Tanga. It includes a lot of general information about the Ost Afrika Schultztruppen and LTC Lettow-Vorbeck.

Re: Overview of the German East Africa campaign
Marcus;
Von-Lettow's own book is available in English which gives a good overview of the German side and the British Official History, Volume I covering the Campaign through 1916 is easily obtainable (unfortunately, like Boell's book "Die Operationen in Ostafrika" [a tremendous effort using all the records then in the Kolonial Office archives - the records were then lost when it was hit by USAAF bombs during the first daylight raid], it was published in 1941 while the world was again at war, the research stopped for the duration and sadly the author died without ever being able to finish Volume II that would have covered the rest of the war) but it is a great book. Added to Dave's suggestion you will have a real good overview. Unfortunately, any better coverage of the German side requires reading or painstakingly translating more than a few excellent books, but all but one are written in old German - a very labor intensive effort
