From Deutscher Soldatenkalender 1962
From Deutscher Soldatenkalender 1962
I have received some scans from "Kolonialer Rückblick" by Helmut Damerau and "Unsere Tümmler: Aus Truppengeschichte und Uniformkunde der Kaiserlichen Seebataillone und der Marine-Infanterie-Regimenter" by Peter Kunold, both printed in "Deutscher Soldatenkalender 1962", is there any interest in seeing them here?

Re: From Deutscher Soldatenkalender 1962
Hi Marcus,
Thanks very much for posting those.
Most interesting for me was that last page with the standard of the II Seebatallion after the Herero War, looks like it took a beating! Also on page 2 the drawings show two Schutztruppe modelling a protoype of the 1896 home uniform. The only difference from the final design being the Polish cuffs seen here whereas the final version had Swedish cuffs. The writing next to the drawings may be the Kaiser's personal notes.
A similar sketch is seen in Die Deutsche Schutztruppe by Haupt showing the protoype 1891 East African uniforms. Again they have a different cuff. The drawings show Hungarian cuffs whereas Brandenburg cuffs were used on the final version. Again the Kaiser has made persoanl notes on changes to be made in his own handwriting.
Cheers
