In the book titled 'Konigsberg, a German East African Trader' by Kevin Patience, in Chapter 11 ‘Aftermath’ pages 158/9 it is noted what happened to some of the guns and photos are included.

The following two guns don't appear to have been mentioned by you, so may be of interest:

- A gun recovered at Kahe with a split barrel was displayed outside Government House in Dar es Salam (photo included in the book) for about a decade before it was removed and placed into storage in August 1934 – likely to have been scrapped.

- In the 1970’s there was a story of a game warden having found a gun in a river bed in one of Tanzania’s Park, but due to its remote locate the gun was left where it was.

I'm no expert on the subject, however I did find the book a most interesting read. If you are interested I may still have Kevin's email address as I did have an email exchange with him around the time I purchased the book.

Eisenbahnwerkstätten Tabora:
"Die Herrichtung von Eisenbahngeschützen unter Benutzung von zwölf 10,5 Schiffsgeschützen des in der Rufidschimündung blockierten Kreuzers "Königsberg" geschah auch in Tabora."

Weiß jemand etwas darüber? Von Eisenbahngeschützen hab ich noch nie was gehört. Ich dachte bisher daß die 10,5 Geschütze in den Marine-Werkstätten in Daressalaam umgerüstet wurden. Tabora ist mir neu.

Yes, I've always read most work was done at Dar es Salaam. Perhaps some repairs at Tabora too. But there's a few problems in that sentence. The guns were not converted to railways guns and there were ten not twelve..

The number of twelve x 10,5-cm Guns and also the description as clasical railway guns are misterious.

Regarding arche-foto´s remark about railway guns, here is an addition to the 10.5-cm L/40 S.K. Gun
which was used on the Central-Railway at the Ussoke-Station, west of Tabora in 1916.

In the book (see below) there is an interesting photo of this gun on page 90, which we have already
discussed here in this thread. What is new, however, is the detailed description of the protagonist,
Brother Alfred (Jakob Brauchle), member of the White Fathers in GEA.

The photographer of this `Königsberg-railway-gun`, Brother Alfred Leyendecker, was also a member
of the White Fathers in Ruanda / GEA.

In addition to the confirmation that the photo was taken in Ussoke, it is also new that the original on a
Glass-plate is still in Cologne today located. (Because of Corona no visit is possible at the Archiv)
