Here is a `straggler´ about the motor boat “Bodelschwingh” on Lake Kivu.

The German historian Dr. Michael Pesek has two original reports from the German side in his blog
implemented, in which the "Bodelschwingh" is one of the protagonist, even if it was not mentioned by name.

Bericht über Eroberung eines Motorboots auf dem Kivu-See
(Report on conquering a motor boat on Lake Kivu)

I. Über die Wegnahme eines belgischen Stahlbootes und Gefangennahme seiner Besatzung.

II. Ueber das Abschießen eines belgischen Einbaumes und seiner Besatzung am 18. September 1914
durch das Motorboot der Marine-Abteilung des Kivu-Sees.

Bericht über die Besetzung der Insel Idjiwi (Kivu-See), 24.9.1914
(Report on the occupation of the island of Idjiwi (Lake Kivu), September 24, 1914)

Attached you see first unpublished pictures from the ”Bodelschwingh“ on the maiden voyage
with Pastor Karl Roehl at the wheel and a brother from the `White Fathers´ in Rwanda on board.
