Re: Pictures of German Cameroun
Today I like to introduce a rare book and a few of these containing photos. The main orientation, not only in this sub-forum are the
military element, of course. But special the Colonial component here, include also remaining buildings and constructions. In most
cases these buildings, administration buildings (Bomas), but also Churches and schools are still used in these functions up today.
The book portray the mission-work of the Roman Catholic order in Cameroun from 1890 to 1916. Heinrich Vieter was since 1905
the first Bishop in this formally German Colony. In 2005, the beatification process was opened in Yaoundé / Cameroun for Vieter.

Re: Pictures of German Cameroun
Thanks again for sharing all these great photos Holger. For me the most interesting was this local Sultan-

He appears to be wearing the gorget of the 2nd Prussian Curassier Regt, Kürassier-Regiment "Königin" (Pommersches) Nr. 2.

Cheers
Chris

Interesting,
A `German` Sultan with Ghutra / Keffiyeh and Igal (headgear) and a gorget of the 2nd Prussian Curassier Regt,
Kürassier-Regiment "Königin" (Pommersches) Nr. 2!
This photo of Sultan (Lamido) Schefu Sanda von Dikoa (Bornu) is also shown at the Koloniales Bildarchiv in Frankfurt and it is mentioned that the, later as Captain become known and promoted, Ernst von Raben should have taken this picture.
