Some excellent photos of the German colonial experience can be found on the University of Frankfurt website:

Many are of commemoratives in the 1930s:

The impression is that these veteran parades etc were in honour of those who served in the Boxer Rebellion,German Sudwest Afrika, and Ost Afrika either separately or in unison varying on the display.

Great pictures as usual Moulded!
The guards in IMG0034 seen to be wearing Wehrmacht uniform with colonial hats, very curious I've never seen that before. I wish there was a closer look at thoer hat badge. Does anyone else know what it might be?
Thanks again
Chris

It's certainly not the same badge that is present on the hats in earlier photos. Unless its a form of the Imperial Eagle as seen on the Askari's hat, I wouldn't be completely sure of it myself.

It doesn't look like an eagle to me either. Maybe it's an imperial crown as worn by the DSWA Police force? Very odd either way...
Cheers

The Imperial Crown looks like a far more likely candidate for it.
