Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
If you're looking for a really exotic place I would suggest that you locate this former subject of territorial dispute between Germany and the Netherlands….

First try:
Somewhere in New Guinea
(The Dollart is out of the question owning to the palms)

Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
Sorry, not New Guinea
(at least not according to the German view)
but you’re right about the palms…

Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
Hello!
Just a version: Ponape (Karolinen) where SMS Jaguar suppressed natives unrest in 1908?
Best regards, Aleks

Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
The route of SMS Jaguar at the time was:
13.09.1899 Überführung nach Herbertshöhe in Deutsch-Neuguinea.
13.10. Feierliche Flaggenhissung auf Ponape, Karolinen.
03.11. Feierliche Flaggenhissung auf Jap, Palau.
17.11. Feierliche Flaggenhissung auf Saipan, Mariannen.
And as Ponape has already given negative result it could be
Jap or Saipan or somewhere in between these locations...?

Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
@ danebrog: Come on, with so many hints and even a map it shouldn’t be that difficult…
One more hint: before 1899 the dispute was between Spain and the Netherlands.
@ waleed: Not Jap, not Saipan, not islands along the route of the Jaguar.
The Jaguar received orders not to go the disputed islands in question.
Chs, - Henk

YES, IT IS!Henk wrote:@ danebrog: Come on, with so many hints and even a map it shouldn’t be that difficult…
Meanwhile I feel really foolish about my inability to locate this (censored) Spot somewhere in the middle of nowhere
My last thought was about Hollandia/Humboldt Bay, but this is a (again censored) bight instead of an island
Huff
But at least this is a challenge on a new Level: Dank u wel!
Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
Don't give up...
Apparently you need another hint:
Regardless of Dutch, Spanish and German claims, the islands in question were de facto ruled by an American adventurer…
