Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
The Marshall Islands - all north of Equator except Nauru which is to the south. Occupied in 1914 by Japanese except Nauru which was occupied by Australia - handed over to those countries after Treaty of Versailles.

Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
Good Point. I had to look for myself first, where the islands started and stopped and where the Equator ran along.
But as far as I can see, the equator runs a few hundred Kilometres south of the borders, then and now. Original Source: https://www.welt-atlas.de/datenbank/kar ... -3-180.gif Original Source: http://images.zeno.org/Brockhaus-1911/I ... klde32.jpg

Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
That is true - but Nauru is not part of the Marshall Islands today it was handed over to Australia after WWI and Japan got the rest of the Islands(whitch became today's Marshall Islands) ... If you look at a list of German post offices in the German Marshall Islands you will find Nauru. Your German map above shows Nauru(upper left box) at 0.30S

Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
Hi stulev,
Thanks for your explanation.
As far as I interpreted you; - you stated that the Equator touched German-Guinea. This is absolutely correct!
The Equator runs 1914 nearly 3000 kilometres through that German territory, - but only through water!
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westliche ... iet-Inseln
What I mean; - A German Colony with more than 150 km mainland through the Equator.
Cheers Holger

Also the Northernmost Island of the Kaniet-Island-Group which belongs Bismarck Archipelago, don´t touched the Equator.“Nauru is a 21 square kilometres oval-shaped island in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, located 55.95 kilometres south of the Equator. “Original Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nauru

Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
Hi Chris, Salaam aleikum Waleed,
The person with this famous face and impressive high of 2,15m is:
King (Mtmemi) Yuhi Musinga V of Rwanda (1883-1944), time of recording, German East Africa.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuhi_V_of_Rwanda
https://www.google.de/search?q=king+mus ... GQsqJhXL1M:
The title of this photo in a German book is:
“King Musinga in German uniform, to demonstrate his support of colonial power, 1915.”
About details of the uniform I have no idea.
Cheers Holger

Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
It seems to be the picture below shows the same uniform from Musinga. However, the colours of the subsequently
coloured photograph do not look quite realistic. Or was there really light blue uniform; even if it was probably a phantasy
uniform? Unfortunately, I found no explanation of the photo-proof on the first pages of the below mentioned book.

Re: The official AHF German Colonies quiz thread
I've been looking high&low on the net
for more info on medal and uniform.
Have come across a few hints here and
there and apparently Musinga did receive
gifts in the form of odds and ends and
textiles from the germans but never wore
them. Later it was repeated by the new
rulers, the belgians. One of the gifts was
a light blue uniform with gold braid...
wondering if this is what we see.
If so the images must be from after the
germans left.
Still looking for the medal, but belgian
now
