Another son,Oberleutnant Thilo von Trotha, also served with Trotha's HQ.Unable to catch Cornelius, von Trotha attempted negotiations for the first time by sending his own son to talk Cornelius and Christian into surrendering in a strange departure from his policies to that point. The negotiations were terminated by a misdirected attack by a German patrol on the rebels which resulted in the death of Lieutenant von Trotha and the escape once again of the guerrillas.
Thilo later served as an aide to Prinz Weid in Albania 1914,Major with RIR 202 in 1918.
Were there two of Trotha's sons on his staff in DSWA or has some confusion resulted in the 'death' of Thilo being reported?
