Post by Cristiano de S.O Campos » 23 Nov 2005 20:41

Hi Arne
Hi friends

I see in schutztruppe website these photo.

These photo was taken in museum?

Which Museum?

Perhaps if was you obtained more photos you could send for Chris Dale? I believe that it would be a good increment to the website of Chris, that these website is more specific on uniforms.

Danke

Cristiano.

Hello Cristiano!
I do not know where the pic ist taken. Perhaps from a private collection?
In Germany existed a "Deutsches Kolonialmuseum" (German colonial museum) in Bremen untill 1945. Today it is called "Deutsches Überseemuseum" (German Oversea museum).

Was the name change done because the scope of the museum widened or was it due to pc gone ballistic or why?

Hi,
sorry for delay...
The picture is from the private "Museum der deutschen Schutzgebiete" in Gunzenhausen. Unfortunatly it is closed, because the owner and founder, Reinhold Siebentritt, died some years ago and his sons sold everything in auctions....

It was changed, after the loss of the colonies. The topic was changed and widened.

That's such a shame. It looked like a great collection.
Cheers
