That last posted link does have some highly recommended reading especially-

I've done a bit more searching at the US Archives and found this too-

The homepage from the professional Photographer Burkhart Rüchel offer, among other articles,
a very interesting, detailed “Historical Photo Report” from Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia to Namibia.
