Another mystery photo 3-Askari Cap badge.

Hi friends

I have these same photo in my brazilian book about east africa campaign and
in osprey book men-at -arms Armies in East Africa page 09(Chris, take a look in brazilian book and in osprey book, the photo
are more accurated)

In these photo have a askari wearing a cap with a badge
that can´t identify, looks like a german imperial naval officer badge.


Somebody suggestion?

Hi Cristiano,
Yes, I never noticed that before. It certainly does look like a naval officer's cap badge. Very strange. Maybe the clue is in the fact that the mounted officer in the photo is a former SMS Königsberg officer, Lt-z-See Wenig?

Hi Chris

Thanks a lot for this information.

I never was see a Lt-z-See Wenig photo.

So, maybe the cap was a gift for a loyal and brave askari(the african people like mix
native clothes and european clothes)or Wenig borrow the cap for taking the photo.
