Hi, I would say no, and assume the existing local police and gendarmes would carry on with their duties and original uniforms, it wasn't incorporated into the kingdom like Albania.

For the gendarmes was reuseded the traditional name of "krilasci" and was proposed a new uniform , but no have notice if it was approvated and usated. The Gendarmerie was " de facto" incorporated as auxiliare of the Carabinieri , italian MP.
The phtos show , at early period at last, the original Yug Uniforms but with no cap insigna.
The few police men , if of montenegrin origin rest in service with italian police, the non montenegrin sent in Serbia.

I would have thought the Italians would follow German policy and retain existing police/gendarmerie in the original uniforms.

Slovene regiment of the Yugoslavian gendarmerie, same uniform worn in Montenegro.

Also in the book "Fascisms European empire " it mentions that in Montenegrin officials and gendarmes had to pledge alleigence to Italy and that in occupied Slovenia there were 1500 royal military police and working alongside them 500 former Yugoslav gendarmes.
A short table at the back of the book has- in Zadar, 38 gendarmes in grey green Italian uniforms, Split- 37 gendarmes in grey green uniforms, Kotor- 4 gendarmes in Italian CCRR uniforms (not sure what CCRR is ) and Ljubljana/Slovenia - 190 gendarmes in the old Yugoslav uniforms, although the Slovene police did get grey uniforms red? collar patchess, peaked caps, high boots.

Dear Triffid , you information is very interesting, but I think we must note:
1) Zadar , Zara in italian was annexed by Italy in 1918 , so it is like a normal italian Town vith italian police and Carabinieri; the book ( what is is exat title and autor?)maybe tell it of Zara area( Dalmatia- Dalmazia) annexed in 1941?
2)Split and Kotor , (Spalato and Cattaro in italian) was annexed to Italy in 1941 ,not part of Montenegro.
3) CCRR means Royal Carabinieri , the italian Military Police , : the ex gendarmes are attached normaly at this corp as logic.
4) Lubiana Police receive standard italian police uniforms ( dark blue with maroon piping)but with different cap Badge (a slovene eagle, instead of italian eagle): in a slovene book i have see a lot of photos about.
