While taking an ancient art history course, I learned that Benito Mussolini in the 1930s had plans for the fascist government to be laid to rest in the mausoleum of the Roman emperor Augustus if he died, largely to reinforce his image as a modern-day reincarnation of Julius Caesar and Augustus.
