I know this is many years late but just in case someone stumbles on this topic via Google in the future:

Captain Bianchi was not really a pilot. He was an envoy of Mussolini and came to Finland under this false pilot identity to negotiate about the logistics of creating a "Legion Garibaldi" for the Finnish war effort in the Winter War.
