Hi all,

Does somebody know when this image of the Pompeo Magno cruiser was taken ?
WW2 or postwar ?
This cruiser was renamed San Giorgio during the postwar but I don`t know the exact year...

Hi!
In the Russian naval magazine this photo is captioned as "In the harbor of La Valletta, Malta, 1944-45".
The ship was renamed on March 1, 1951.

Clearly a picture taken before her name change as the “Pompeo Magno” in white is still visible.

Hello Sturm78,

I believe both pictures of Cadorna and Bande Nere were taken in Palermo in 1941.

Thank you, Canoga. I think you are right. The Ebay photo caption said Sicily, 1941

Should be Trieste
The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41
