Not exactly: the Teleferiche are a transport system usated in montain area , in Alpes , but also in Eritrea to link Massaua to Asmara .
Was widley usated durin WWI

I thought the one in Eritrea was a railroad, just such a steep one that they used cables instead of locomotives.

There was a railroad and a teleefrica. The teleferica was looted by the British ,the railroad is on site end now is usated only in short tracts ( no manutention for decades) for turistic pourpose.
