Hello, can someone tell me who were the Commanders of the Regia Marina (and what was this position called in Italian?) from 1935 until 1943? I can't find any info/lists online.
Thanks.

The position was called "Capo di Stato Maggiore della Marina" ("Chief of Staff of the Navy"). During that timespan the chiefs of staff were:

Ammiraglio d'Armata (previously Ammiraglio di Squadra till April 1936) Domenico Cavagnari from June 1934 to December 1940
Ammiraglio di Squadra (Ammiraglio d'Armata from October 1942) Arturo Riccardi from December 1940 to July 1943
Ammiraglio di Divisione (later Ammiraglio di Squadra from ???) Raffaele De Courten from July 1943 to December 1946

Cavagnari and Riccardi simultaneously held the position of Secretary of the Navy (the Minister being nominally Mussolini, although de facto the Secretary took the decisions in naval matters and Mussolini just gave his approval). De Courten (appointed after Mussolini's deposition on 25/7/1943) was also Minister of the Navy.
