Post by robertino » 28 Jan 2018, 20:15

Hi,

1. I'm trying to determine which Italian units in Kingdom Yugoslavija between the invasion (april 1941) and the surrender (1943).
and
2. Where can I find types of guns (guns, artillery ), tank, airplane, and ship (ship, submarine, torpedo, mas) used by Italian during the occupation of Yugoslavia?
and
3. and I would like information on cooperation with local occupiers and traitors (Chetniks, Ustashas)

and last
can I recommend the literature for the given topic

forgive me in my bad English

Thanks.

1. A place to start on which units were present is the USSME volume Le operazioni delle unità italiane in Jugoslavia (1941-1943).

2. The units in Yugoslavia used the full range of weaponry available to Italy. You will likely need to find books on the specific units to determine how each unit was equipped.

3. Burgwyn's Empire of the Adriatic is a good book to begin your research on the Italian interactions with local groups.

Also, I recommend you:
James J. Sadkovich, Italian Support for Croatian Separatism 1927-1937, published in 1988

You are free to recommend literature for the given topic both in Italian and English.

Best regards,
Eisvogel

In the big Italian offensive against slovene partisans from July-November 1942 those units were used:

Division Cacciatori delle Alpi 15.721 men.
Division Isonzo 13.588 men.
Division Macerata 8.722 men.
Division Granatieri di Sardegna 20.000 men.
Four special M batalions each had 700 men so together 2.800.
Two fascists legions each had around 900 men so together 1.800.
XI. Ragrup. Gaf or border guards which numbered 8.558 men.
Plus quite some police forces.

Hi SloLiberal,

no need for double-posting; just provide a link to the original thread (in this case https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic ... 5&t=233993).

Cheers,
