Dodecanese Greeks?

#1

During WWII, Italy practiced conscription both towards its citizens and towards the native inhabitants of its African colonies. What was the status of the (ethnically Greek) inhabitants of the Dodecanese? I have never heard of units made of Dodecanese men; were they exempt/banned from military service?

Are you sure? In Andrea Santangelo's book "Operazione Compass" I read that Libyan askaris were drafted, for instance.
