On the right it could be Bastico - take a look at the rank insignia on his sleeve... He is certainly a senior officer.

German Chancellor Adolf Hitler meets with Italian Prime Minister Benito Mussolini and Axis officers at a railway station in Florence, Italy during World War II in October 1940
Unidentified Italian officers in the background. Who are they?
Also, I don't believe that this picture were taken in 1940. More likely after Mussolini became the puppet of Hitler (1943-45).

I am not an expert, but the absence of the crown on the eagle of the colonel's hat in the background seems to indicate that this photo was shot during the Italian Social Republic. By the way, the caption tells it was shot during Hitler's visit to Mussolini in Florence on [28] October 1940, but, as you can see from this other one of the same series (https://www.gettyimages.it/detail/fotog ... /493274235), the presence of Karl Wolff would be incoherent with this date, further hinting to a later year (1943-44) and place (IMHO these photos belong to Mussolini's visit to the four Italian divisions under training in Germany in July 1944).

Moreover, practically all the colour photos of Mussolini on Gettyimages from the collection Popperfoto (https://www.gettyimages.it/search/photo ... ar#license) have a wrong caption... They all belong to Mussolini's tour of Germany in mid-July 1944.

Returning to the officers in the background, given my inexperience in the field I can only say that the man between Mussolini and Hitler seems a colonel of general staff, and the man with white shirt and black uniform seems and officer of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Post #4 on the first page:
I agree, most probably it is Efisio Marras.

It is indeed Rommel together with Gastone Gambara and Ettore Bastico.
The Generale di Brigata behind Rommel is Giorgio Calvi di Bergolo, Italian Liaison Officer to Rommel at the time.
https://generals.dk/general/Calvi_di_Be ... Italy.html

Post 12:
On the left it is Vittorio Marchesi, commander of 5a Squadra Aerea operating in North Africa.
https://generals.dk/general/Marchesi/Vi ... Italy.html

Behind him, the officer with the iron cross is another Regia Aeronautica officer, Venceslao d'Aurelio.
https://generals.dk/general/d%27Aurelio ... Italy.html

The Italian Army officer in between has been identified in the book "ROMMEL'S ITALIAN GENERALS IN NORTH AFRICA 1941-1943" as Mario Soldarelli, attached to North Africa General Headquarters at the time.
https://generals.dk/general/Soldarelli/Mario/Italy.html

Post 16 on the second page:
The general with the alpini hat is Gabriele Nasci and the general d'Armata on the right is Alessandro Pirzio Biroli, commander
of the 9th Amry during the italian invasion of Greece.
https://generals.dk/general/Pirzio_Biro ... Italy.html

Post 21:
I agree, the officer on the far right is Ettore Baldassarre.

The picture was taken when Rommel first arrived in Africa, February 1941. Who are the Italian officers surrounding Rommel?

The two officers behind Rommel, to his immediate left and right are probably MVSN officers.
The generale di brigata on the far left is Alighiero Miele.
