Post by 2jack » 15 Dec 2004, 10:26

D. Löwenhamn: Ok, but how will I be able to talk to 2jack if he doesn't speak english?

Ok, from now on I will post a small translation each time I post in Italian:

(From previous reply)

"I am searching for a soldier too, but a living one. His name is Renato Maina, and he was captured by the english in nord africa. I don't know what happened to him after his release, so i want to find him. But nobody helps me"[/quote]

From what I understood, 2 jack said that an old person told him one day that 2 German soldiers were killed during teh retreat near the Po River and were burried by the locals. It seems that they are still there and the man indicated the exact location near his village. He asks if someone could help him verify this information.

2jack, I think you should start by mentioning the name of the village.

2jack has indicated his location under his nick...he comes from Sermide, a little town near Po River, in province of Mantova, northern Italy.

In last days of April 1945 it was near a point to pass Po and there had been some fightings between retreating germans and advancing allies and partisans.

Ernstly I don't know which he should do: certainly speak with Carabinieri as first.

bye

Hello! This is something that I found randomly on Volksbund:

Richter, Erwin
Dienstgrad: Unteroffizier
geboren: 21.10.1903
gefallen/vermisst: 22.4.1945 vermisst
Armee KORÜCK514 FeldpostNr.18490

Could this be helpful or interesting?Could someone translate the text?

2jack, can you please provide us some more details about this, if you have some?

2jack, gentilmente potresti fornirci alcuni dettagli in più a riguardo, se ne hai?
