If Hitler had put all of his resources
into a full-fledged Mediterranean campaign, he would have won the war. This CANNOT be argued by ANYONE with an IQ above room temp. Max Hastings agrees with me....as does Bevin Alexander....as does Lt. General Simon Mayall.
You disagree? Really now? Am I going to hear the same old cowardly slave refrain of: "durrr Hitler couldn't have won the war because of durrrr logistics....durrrrr oil refinery.....durrrrrr transport.....durrr the desert durrrrrrr" oh really now? Well Max Hastings disagrees with you. Max graduated with honors from Oxford. Where'd YOU go to school??? In 2012 Mas was awarded the prestigious Pritzker Military Library Literature Award, a lifetime achievement award for military writing, which includes an honorarium, citation and medallion, sponsored by the Chicago-based Tawani Foundation. Hastings is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, and the Royal Historical Society. What prestigious awards for military writing have YOU received? Which prestigious historical and literary societies do YOU belong to??? hmmmm???
Bevin Alexander served as an officer during the Korean War. What MAJOR international conflict did YOU serve as an officer in?? Bevin has served as a consultant and adviser to several groups due to his military expertise, including work for the prestigious Rand Corporation, work as a consultant for military simulations instituted by the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command. What have YOU ever consulted the Rand Corporation on?! Has the US Army ever ASKED YOU TO PERSONALLY SERVE as a consultant/adviser for it??? hmmmm????
Lt. General Simon Mayall attended Oxford. What school did YOU attend? Mayall commanded troops in both the Persian Gulf War and Kosovo? In which international conflicts have YOU ever commanded troops? Mayall rose to the rank of Lt. General in her Majesty's Royal Army. Which rank have YOU risen to in her Majesty's Royal Army? Maywall as awarded the honour of being declared a "Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire." Have YOU ever received this prestigious honour from her Majesty's Royal Army? hmmmmmmm...?????
So enough with all of this slave defeatist anti-Nazi drivel: "DURR there is NO way HItler could have won World War II by pursuing a Mediterranean strategy....durrrrrr what about the oil refineries...durrr and the OMG INSURMOUNTABLE logistical issues...and and and...they didn't even know about all of the oil in Libya....and and and....durrrr." ANYONE with AT LEAST half an operational brain realizes that HItler could have EASILY WON THIS CONFLICT if he had pursued a Mediterranean strategy. The three men cited above all agree with me on that point. YOU think you KNOW BETTER THAN THEY DO?! durrrr....why because you read a lot of books?!! durrrrr..watched a lot of documentaries....durrrrr.....played axis and allies a ot?!! durrrr.....by disagreeing with them, chaps, you are only exposing your ignorance and arrogance.
THE END.

Re: If Hitler had put all of his resources
This is a "What if?" and belongs in that thread
What war would Hitler have won?
Are you saying he could have achieved a peace treaty with the United Kingdom and Commonwealth Governments? By the end of 1941 say?
Possibly.
But was that the ultimate aim of the war that Hitler was actually fighting? and not simply the aim of the war that some people would have liked him to have been fighting
A peace treaty with the United Kingdom helps with the problem of British intervention in his plans but his big problem is that his original plan was only to have a war with Russia (at some point) and that fighting had started earlier than he intended. He still had to deal with Russia. His ultimate aim is the destruction of Russia and using its space to house the German people. But if he has just won a war, will the German people follow him into another war against Russia? Will Russia just grow stronger and become even more unbeatable in a 1942 or 1943 campaign than it was in the 1941 campaign? In any case he has to keep the war going by launching a Russian campaign.
So the Mediterranean Strategy in 1941 has not won him the war he is actually fighting, which can only end with the total destruction of Russia.
Achieving the total destruction of Russia whether in 1941, 1942, or 1943 was beyond the strategic and operational planning capability of Hitler and his generals (they were incapable of developing a plan that might work) given the military and industrial capability of Germany.
So ultimately he doesn't win.
Regards
John

Re: If Hitler had put all of his resources
Just checked and the OP has now tried the same provocative style in the last 3 threads he started and it appears (from the 90/160 replies he ignored in two of them) he has no interest in engaging in any resulting debate. He just drops his turd and moves on.

I believe he is best ignored.

He opened exactly the same thread in the "WW2 in Africa & the Mediterranean " section":

He surely has too much free time.

Re: If Hitler had put all of his resources
Honestly, it's the funniest post I've ever read on AHF.
Re: If Hitler had put all of his resources
Jeez, I just read this.
You might as well have posted that if Hitler had stuck a French Horn in his bum at the Moscow Tram Station, the Siberians would have fled in panic-stricken terror and the Wehrmacht would have been Home for New Years’.
Doesn’t quite work that way. Please be more considerate (and less of a Whermacht Fanboi) in subsequent posts...

Beat me to it. It may have made more sense if he asked re Ambrose and Munchhausen, but what the heck...Ironmachine wrote:
