JU187 wrote:My source for what I pasted was from the German database of missing or killed in action. I also saw Otto Neumann in there so it was the same website that you went to. If you did not find Alfred, it's because for whatever reason it finds him by searching for last name: Neumann and town of birth: Romerstadt. However, if you enter his first name, it won't find him. I and many others are familiar with your source, already mentioned in my 2 nd post what your source is.
I found Alfred without any problem, just search "Neumann Alfred" and he appears in the second line of page 7 from 23.

Your first photo (Alfred2) shows Alfred in a infantry uniform AFAIK, the second very likely in a czech pre -war uniform. Note the cap insignia with the czech lion.
I´m not familiar with czech uniforms, and on the other photo we can´t see the regimental number on the epaulets. Please show the photos also in the "Axis Uniforms, Headgear & Insignia" subforum, I guess anyone sure can tell you more.

Thank you. I think you are correct, that was a Czeckoslovak military uniform in the second younger picture of him. That makes sense because I wondered why he was fighting on the front lines at such an older age, that early in the war, seemingly before the Nazi's had really experienced defeat. It would make sense that a soldier from a recently annexed area like Sudetenland, who was an ethnic German would be of value to the Reich. Not sure why I can't find ANYTHING about his brother Fritz (Friedrich Neumann) He was also born in the town of Romerstadt his birthday was 13th Nov 1919 and was also apparently killed in Russia. If anyone has resources to find his name within any records, I would greatly appreciate it.

I just filled out requests for both Alfred and Fritz. Thank you very much for all of your help! If I get new information about either Alfred or Fritz, I will be sure to post it here so that you can see what they find. Thank you!

Thank you for posting that!!

Do you have the name of the Church?

Does it have the address of where exactly they lived in Romerstadt?

What religion?

Does it have the father and mother's names in the book? Or any other information about the parents?

I would be very grateful if you could let me know the answer to any of these questions. You would be helping me answer a lot of things my family does not know.

The Church is named St. Michael. My grandmother was born in Edersdorf, near by Romerstadt. I found, his family live here from 1728 year..maybe earlier. Before some years I found interwiew with Hermann Neumann, and searched another information.
In this time I have only copy from Book- borned childern, only index. The book with all details- parents, place birthing etc i have to find out for you...They hes been catholic..If I find somethink else ,for sure i will write you because im also interested in history about Rymarov citizens..sorry for my bad english,i speak only czech and german.

Thank You! Your English is very good. I understand everything you have written. Please contact me if you find anything new. I will also share with you whatever information I already have about my family from Romerstadt if you are interested. My grandmother immigrated to the United States in September 1937, just before the War began. She was a governess for a doctor and his family. That is how my family came to the States.

I wonder, you are speaking German and Czech and though you don´t use propper letters for the town name? I assume that your keyboard has the letter "ö" for Römerstadt? When typing a post here there´s a omega sign above the box where one can find also special characters.

In Volume 13 of the parish register you should find at least the parents name, the godfather and the date of the christening.

But you could also ask the local municipal office for help.

I found for my great-great-grandfather in the register of births e.g. the DOB´s of his parents, their names and address, even their profession, their signature. But also notations (cross reference) about the death or adoptions (not in my case).

Thank you for your reply. My grandmother was married in 1936 to be a czech citizen. She had two sisters and two brothers. It was a very difficult time, especially after the war. One sister was killed by czech, second expelled with his father to Germany. His mather die during war. Both brothers returned from prison / one was in United states/, direct to Germany and looking family members. my father was born 1938 an I in 1966 and still live here in Romerstadt. All other members from our family lives in Germany.
I send some to Hermann-stuka pilot.
