Erwin Rommel
Erwin Rommel
How strongly did Erwin Rommel agrea with the ideas of the nazis ?
Re: Erwin Rommel
He had pretty strong views against nazi idea of his suicide one might think.
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
Re: Erwin Rommel
Well he wasn't Hans Scholl, that's for sure.
He was less involved in crimes associated with the Nazi ideology than most. But that could come from the fact that he was fighting against the Western Allies. Had he been deployed on the Eastern front, would he have enough strength in his character?
And he also raised a stalwart son, who later became a good politician with no Nazi touch. Not as if it would mean anything, the daughter of Göring is fine, too.

"Everything remained theory and hypothesis. On paper, in his plans, in his head, he juggled with Geschwaders and Divisions, while in reality there were really only makeshift squadrons at his disposal."

Thanks guys
Re: Erwin Rommel
Another thing to be said about the Rommel, not directly related to the nazis but also interesting, is the fact that he came from the lower ranks. He was a common soldier that given his capacities and courage became a high officer. I wonder how many high officers in the Wehrmacht had this same background. I think most of it would be, let`s say, “aristocratic”.
