Where do you calculate this 70 to 350 km?
Isaev counted. And noticeably on the map.

http://militera.lib.ru/h/isaev_av5/06.html

By the end of December, the enemy was thrown back to the starting position, from which he launched an attack on Tikhvin on October 16. The frontiers achieved in October 1941 were lost so that they would never again be in the hands of the invaders.
Development achieved success is not received. Stretched for 350 km along the perimeter of the front stretching toward Tikhvin, the front again “collapsed” into a 70-kilometer line, supported by a large water barrier.

This is absolutely wrong. From north to Ilmen Sea there were more than 170 km.

The German soldiers captured in Tikhvin in December. The lack of winter clothes could affect quality of fighting too. In snow will not jump, long will not lie...

What is this, jesk? frontline A is to be compared to frontline B, not the width of attack.

I. and XXXVIII. attack was very limited, as 15.11. map showns.

But i'm interested in the situation on 26.10. Do you have a map? It would be helpful.

Thanks. So on 26 october the offensive was far from reaching Tikhvin, but Leeb, against Hitler's POV, continued it.

40 km to Tikhvin remained. In another locality for a motorized division it is few, but there are swamps and autumn thaw. Leeb chose to continue the movement in order to cut the railway. Any regrouping of forces took weeks, so only Tikhvin.

Only Tikhvin?

Since he received a free hand on 26.10, continuing the offensive was no obligation.

On October 27 Germans were in Sitomlya. Late was to refuse plans. Tikhvin and turn on the northwest. What they and did, but forces of attackers dried out.

What after? Regrouping forces through the swamps for a month? The offensive has entered a stage when it was necessary to adhere to the plan. Bad, but..

No, because the deep penetration was only 2 divisions...

Are you saying it was not possible to pull back 2 divisions?

Btw, it was the 12. Pz., not the 18. wrongly appearing in the map.
