something about operation buffalo
hello everyone. Is there anyone who knows some books introducing Operation Buffalo in details. I am interested in the commander Model and this operation. And how about the losses of 9th Army and Soviet troops?
Re: something about operation buffalo
Operation Büffel was a phased retreat with relatively little fighting, but Model ordered a large scale anti-partisan and scorched earth operation.

But the book of G.F.Krivosheev said that 138577 russian soldiers were killed or wounded in this operation, which means in fact there were some great battles, and when it comes to the losses of 9th Army the result is still up in the air. Some books says that there were little losses and even 0 losses in german troops.

I think he refers to the Rzhev-Vyazma Offensive (1943) which lasted up until 31 March, and includes the clash with the new defensive line as well.devils in the tower wrote: ↑17 Dec 2019, 12:34But the book of G.F.Krivosheev said that 138577 russian soldiers were killed or wounded in this operation, which means in fact there were some great battles, and when it comes to the losses of 9th Army the result is still up in the air. And what about the losses of 9th Army?Even having the clash with the Central Front after this operation of retreat, the losses(died, wouned, sick and missing ) seem to be just about 10000 during the total MarchPeter89 wrote: ↑17 Dec 2019, 17:49I think he refers to the Rzhev-Vyazma Offensive (1943) which lasted up until 31 March, and includes the clash with the new defensive line as well.devils in the tower wrote: ↑17 Dec 2019, 12:34But the book of G.F.Krivosheev said that 138577 russian soldiers were killed or wounded in this operation, which means in fact there were some great battles, and when it comes to the losses of 9th Army the result is still up in the air.
