German units (Slavic recruits) Belgium 1943

Post by HistoryMax » 06 Jul 2023 11:47

Good morning,

As part of my research on a Belgian village during the Second World War, I am looking for information on German units composed of Slavic recruits who stayed near Tournai (Belgium) from October 1943.

According to testimony I was able to gather, these units were "29. 986 AE and 58.408". Despite my research, I couldn’t find the units corresponding to these numbers. The witness to this information doesn’t know the military jargon, maybe he made a mistake.

Thank you in advance,

Sounds right.
These are Feldpost numbers.

29986 was Stab und 1.-6. Kompanie Ost-Bataillon 669
58408 was Stab und 1.-4. Kompanie Ost-Bataillon 600

See here: Ost-Bataillone der Wehrmacht

Good evening,

Thank you very much for this valuable information.

Do you know where I can find information or testimonies from these units during their stay in Belgium?

If such information exists, the history of the studied village will be greatly completed.

Thank you in advance,
Have a great evening,
