#1

Post by Edward L. Hsiao » 23 Feb 2017, 09:01

Dear Fellows,

Was ace Hans-Joachim Marseille's mother named Charlotte Reimer? I mean before she got married and had her last name changed into Marseille. When did she was born and when she died? I have no idea what she did during World War II.

Sincerely,

Edward L. Hsiao

Dear Folks,

I don't think so. By the way I found in one source it was Charlotte Riemer not Reimer.

No one know what source for that full name of Charlotte, Hans-Joachim Marseille mother? I don't trust Wikipedia at all.

Sincerely,

Just that single source by Colin D. Heaton? I have doubt about that full name that is named "Charlotte Marie Johanna Pauline Gertrud Riemer".There is not much evidence to support this. Hans-Joachim Marseille's military ID documents would have mention the name of his mother Charlotte and her maiden name. So despite that one source,I don't agree about Charlotte's full name at all!

Hi Edward,

I know we don't agree on much, but I think you are right to question Heaton as a sole source.

Colin D. Heaton has a very dubious record,

His book Prince of Aces was cancelled by the publisher at the last moment when numerous people pointed out that it was fiction.

Perhaps on account of this debacle, he started self publishing. An early offering, Four War Boer, also appears to be fiction, as the protagonist is completely unknown to the Rhodesian special forces he was supposed to have trained in the 1960s! They declined to endorse the book.

As a result of this and other questionable instances, Heaton can only be relied upon if carefully double checked, which rather undermines the point of using him in the first place.

Cheers,

Sid

I think you can find her 2nd marriage at

Trauungsbuch Berlin Schöneberg II, 1922 Nr.762

(source ancestry.com)

---

if it is the correct person she was called Charlotte Marie Johanna Pauline Gertrud, born Riemer, married Marseille, married Reuter

born 26.03.1892 in Königsberg

II.oo 27.09.1922 with Polizeioberleutnant Karl Josef Reuter

Gentlemen,

Most sources including her grave stone mentioned her name just Charlotte Marseille (born Riemer) born 26.03.1892 in Konigsberg.
