One question about the photo # 872

What was the expression of honor at that time with the sword raised towards the bridal couple, there was a special term for it, was it the "lane of honour" (Ehrengasse) ?

German student fraternities still maintain this ceremony today, probably a very old tradition.

One question, what was the designation of this floral decoration on the groom's uniform ?

The bride held the "bridal bouquet" (G:"Brautstrauss") in her hands, what was the name of the groom's decoration ?
Did all this have something to do with a church marriage, that would be another question ?

Hans
It´s a traditional (but not regional) boutonniere (Anstecker) made of myrtle matching the bride´s bridal tiara.

There are corresponding sets identical to the green one in the photo in silver-tone for the silver wedding anniversary (25 years) and gold-tone for the golden anniversary (50 years). Big department stores still stock those. Or online shops. We have these sets handed down from a few generations back in my family.

If the couple wanted to go with the traditional tiara/bouttoniere, I think they would use them in the ceremony most important to them. All couples had (and have) to get married in a register office wedding prior to any religious ceremony. Those who only wanted the register office one may have worn these accessories then, others to the church wedding.
