hello-
this is my first entry on this board (after having popped in from time to time to read thru a few interesting threads). i would appreciate your help.
what i am looking for is biographical information on OLGA RIEGELE, goering's sister (as stated above). as far as i know, she was married to a certain fritz riegele (an austrian?) and lived in berlin until 1945, apparently in goering's flat.
does anyone hold information on her? is there published material on her life (and death)?
thanks,
ian

Hello,
the correct spelling of her new family name is 'Rigele'
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=98154&
Fritz Rigele was an avid and prominent mountaineer and was killed in a mountain accident in 1937. Author of the book '50 Jahre Bergsteiger. Erlebnisse und Gedanken', 1935. A 1928 article of him in the journal of the Deutsch-Österreichischer Alpenverein gives Linz (Austria) as his place of living and deals with the history of mountain guides in the Austrian army so probably he was an Austrian.

During the war Olga allegedly headed a hospital in Berlin called 'Sportforum' (odd name, perhaps Sportpalast?)

More about Olga's life during the war may be in the following book because she's mentioned in the registry of persons.

Olga Rigele left Berlin in early March 1945 for southern Germany.

Olga was present when Hermann Göring was arrested in Mauterndorf on May 7th, 1945.

More stuff on Olga can be found in David Irving's Göring biography.

Hi,
it's me again. I think "Sportforum" is the "Deutsches Sportforum" which is part of the Berlin Olympia Park. Until 1945 it was home of the 'Reichsakademie für Leibesübungen' and also comprises various sports facilities. A thorough search on how this site was used in the war will presumably produce some kind of military hospital or rehabilitation facility.
Best regards
Torsten
