POSTAL IDENTITY CARD FOR FEMALE EMPLOYEE

Post by RTFREY » 10 Apr 2007 15:12

Germany was part of the International Postal Union, a worldwide organization of postal systems that is still in existance.

http://www.upu.int/

The card is in both FRENCH and GERMAN.

I cannot determine her exact job as the script is difficult to read. Perhaps someone can decipher it.

The card is a Bi-fold and is 5 7/8 ths by 4 1/8 th inches when open.

Condition is EXCELLENT.

Her profession appears to read Postangestellte (Postal Service Employee), though the t's aren't crossed, and the t's have more "loop" to them than the l's do.

Nice Ausweis! I have one like it, which I'll post for comparison when I get a chance.

If you're interested, see this thread for a specifically German Postal Service (rather than Postal Union) ID to a woman:

Those are nice. I remember when this item was up on militaria321.com. The guy selling it had split up this particular woman's document collection into a whole bunch of seperate auctions...this woman's helferin auswies had been up there, with a uniform identity photo....sure wish I'd got that one.
Best,
Tony

Ouch!!! I hate it when dealers do that! All the pieces together usually tell so much more of the person's story, than even the sum of the individual parts, much less a single piece alone. Dealers and quick money.....

And that set had a Helferin ID with it???!!!

Herr Frey,

Below is my example of the same Ausweis.

The International Postal Union website you posted the link for was fascinating! See my third scan--the stamps that the dealer I bought the ID from used to mail it. I thought the gesture was so neat, that I cut out the stamps and have kept them with the Ausweis. He's quite a lot more of a philatelist (as far as interest in stamps, cancellations, etc. goes) than I am....I wonder if he realized that I "got" the "joke"!

Best,
~Vikki

Yes, there were a couple of other ID's to that same person, the one from the first postal ID...here are the scans I had from way back when...sure would have been a great, complete set.

You must have a great memory for documents, Tony!

I for one think it's good to see them "reunited"!
