wives and girlfriends of Third Reich officials

Post by Max Williams » 25 Jul 2007 10:36

For those interested in football (soccer), the UK press has a fascination with the wives and girlfriends of the football stars. They are nicknamed WAGS and their habits and misdemeanours are always splashed across out tabloids. Victoria Beckham's boobs are as famous as her husband.
I thought it might be an idea to run a thread on the WAGS of Third Reich officials and personalities. I'll begin with the one I consider to be the beauty of them all....Inga Ley.

Obviously, I go with Senhorita Eva Braun.

...the English press would adore her underwears!

A few notes on Himmler's marriage and offspring, including a bit on Himmler's adopted boy:
Married on 03.07.1928 to Margarete ("Marga") Siegroth, née Boden (daughter of an East Prussian landowner), a nurse and manager of a small clinic in Berlin, born 09.09.1893 in Gonzercewo bei Bromberg / Provinz Posen / Westpreussen. A divorcee, her original married name was Siegroth. She was a member of the Nazi Party (with NSDAP-Nr. 92 752) as well as the NS-Frauenschaft and NSV. The couple had one daughter, Gudrun (nicknamed “Püppi), born 08.08.1929. Gudrun later married the author and publisher Wolf-Dieter Burwitz, and is today known as Gudrun Burwitz. After SS-Truppführer Kurt von der Ahe was killed in Berlin on 19.02.1933, Himmler adopted the man's son (Gerhard, born 21.07.1928). Eventually, with the failure of his marriage, he formed a relationship with his former secretary, Hedwig “Häschen” Potthast (born 00.00.1912); one son, Helge (born 15.02.1942) and a daughter, Nanette-Dorothea (born 20.07 (?).1944) resulted from this affair. In 1944, Himmler borrowed 80.000 Reichsmark from the Parteikanzlei (through his friend, Martin Bormann) and had a house built at Schonau near Berchtesgaden (“Haus Schneewinkelehen”) for his mistress and their children.

CORRECTION: This is the young Marga Himmler and not Hedwig “Häschen” Potthast:

Odd duck, that Himmler- chose a mistress who resembled his wife, thus defeating the entire purpose of having a mistress.

It isn't Hedwig Potthast in this photo....it is a young Marga (previously confirmed by an unquestionable source). The photo was in an old book on Himmler and they got it wrong. Shows how you have to be careful with IDs.
