The English wife of Baron Kurt von Behr?

#1

Does anyone know who was the "aristocratic English wife" of Baron Kurt von
Behr, field director of the ER in Paris and later the Aktion Mobile in France -
1940-43? He reportedly suicided with her at the Schloss Banz in 1945 by
driniking Prussic acid in Champagne. (Source: The ACTIVITY OF THE
EINSTATZSTAB ROSENBERG IN FRANCE , 25 August 1945 by J. S. PLAUT
Lieutenant, USNR. Further reference in the Atlantic Journal 1946 (same author)
and numerous other references in more recent histories including The Faustian
Bargain: The Art World in Nazi Germany By Jonathan Petropoulos. I have also a
manuscript placing von Behr and his wife in Venice in 1927 when he was
apparently in exile following some scandal (swindle?). Thanks in advance for
any info.

after investigating I think I have found the name of the wife of Kurt von Behr:
Her name: Guzmann Chake born 16.2.1896 in Brit. India (location sounds like Behobe). Marriage in London 7.8.1924.
In the german death certificate by the townhall of Bad Staffelstein she is called Johanna Baronin von Behr, geborene Guzmann (Gutzmann ?) Chake.

Hope this helpful

Thanks for your interest and the reply after all this time. I thought I had posted my solution to the question. It appears in full in the now published book "Soldier Sailor and Airman Too", by AB Woodhall, which was the original manuscript referred to from 1927.
Quote from the chapter notes in the book: "The Times (London) had his announcement on August 8, 1924: 'The marriage of Baron Kurt von Behr of Munich, and Joy Clarke, daughter of Mrs Godfrey Clarke, of Venice, took place in London on August 7, from the home of her aunt, Miss de Guzman Youl'"
Interesting about the death certificate you found which has the "Guzman" in her maiden name but Clarke has become "Chake" perhaps a mis-spelling. I traced the Miss de Guzman Youl back to the family of a Melbourne (Australia) Coroner.

Thank for that Igor. I have seen a photo of Kurt von Behr but never seen one of his wife. I expect that the London Illustrated News or Tatler would have published their wedding photo but there should be photos of her in later times.

Cheers
