Great site thanks.

Noticed everyone is very very thin, rack of bones for most part.
And, a junger Deutsch junge selling medals for cigarrettes. How sad.

All "great footage/stuff", most of it "new to me".....though I've seen plenty of footage of postwar Berlin (Germany). I love the footage of the kid swapping medals for cigarettes....from an old time collector's point of view.....this is how 75% of the German stuff we all cherish was originally "liberated", durning the occupation....only 25% was literally "picked up" in battle (if that much!)....
Now he could get 3 or 4 cartons.....wholesale (adjusted for inflation!) assuming thier not "Eastern Euro. fakes...

If its any comfort, Annelie, turning out 'high quality , 'reproductions' & selling them off to the occupying forces was one of the first German & Japanese post war industries.
The town of USA, Japan saw a building boom in 1945.. :D

I'm not sure which photo is being discussed (looked back several pages and didn't see any posts by vikki) but it is worth noteing that being real and being propaganda are not mutually exclusive. A bit more detail and a link or description (page number for instance) would help the rest of us undersand a bit more what you are talking about.

I suppose it all about survival at that time, too bad the practice of selling reproductions of the medals etc is still
going on.
