To be blunt even if she really is SS it is quite obvious from a historical context why she probably would not have been wearing anything SS. Near the end of the war and after SS members often took off their uniforms or were stripped of their uniforms and insignias by the allies or locals. Seeing as well that she also has been injured and or assaulted a another uniform or outfit could have been given to her. In many cases fleeing, retreating soldiers often look like vagabonds.

With the photographers evidence there are varying scenarios, he could simply be assuming that she is SS as many of us are assuming she is German. There are also countless other possibilities from the cameraman knowing her basic story form breif interviews with her and the others around her or maybe they had been able to find out information from locals, Soviet soldiers or other Americans. They could have looked at her paperwork if she had any. In the end we are taking much from a small video.

Several posts were split off into a new thread entitled "Treatment of ethnic Germans in Czechoslovakia".

Maybe the only way to verify the identity of LGG is to find out where she went after the filming was done. If she was in the Wehrmacht she may be brought to a POW-camp of the Allies in Pilsen or even in Germany. As far as I know POW's were recorded and it is therefore possible that somewhere these data is still available. Maybe the National Archives in the USA.

Hello to you all!

That's no prank now folks, but I know this woman...!

Some facts about her:

She is born on February 19. 1925 and still alive

She never joined the SS

She was a civilian and worked for a company near Pilsen

If there's someone here on this forum who wants to have more detailed informations then I have to write in German because my English is very bad...!

Hi everyone,

This has most definitely been one of the most interesting reads for a long time. Could this be true that her Identity will finally be revealed or is it a hoax.

To the LostGermangirls-Grandson, by all means, write in German. I am fluent in German and will gladly translate.

+1, also "that's no prank now folks" is an odd choice of words for a German who claims to speak English very poorly. But we'll see what he comes up with in German.

I would still like to give this a glimmer of hope but as time passes without a response from “LostGermangirls-Grandson” I am starting to doubt this.

I think that this is a fake but hope that I am wrong. It is very good for this thread though that it has woken up again.

"If there's someone here on this forum who wants to have more detailed informations then I have to write in German because my English is very bad...!"

This poster is not using standard English:

"That's" - "This is"

"She is born" * - "She was born"

"and still alive" - "and is still alive"

"civilian" - perhaps a typogragraphical error.

LGG- Grandson could be from Germany, because when I joined , I also got the US flag above my forum name, and I live in the UK.
I cant recall being asked my country of origin when registering ?
Very exciting progress if LGG-G is genuine though !

The flag is not the topic for this thread but to end that part of the discussion: it is set automatically by the system based on the ip-address (network address) used when registering and not something you can change. If for some reason an incorrect flag is shown (for example in some cases AOL users get a US flag even if they are connecting from another country), send me a pm and I'll check it out.
