Skorzeny's 1st wife...

Post by Eddy Marz » 05 Jun 2009 14:28

Good afternoon all;
I know that Otto Skorzeny's 2nd wife was Hjalmar Schacht's niece, Ilse von Finkenstein, whom he married in 1950 in Madrid, but can anyone tell me who his first wife was (marriage in 1934, I believe), and what happened to the couple. Did she die, did they divorce ?

Thanks in advance.

Eddy

I believe Skorzeny mentions in his biography that he divorced his first wife. I don't remember when, but he doesn't go into much detail about it in his book.

Good day Eddy
Skorzeny married first, March 9th in 1938. It took me quite a while, but it looks like his first wife was born as Margareta Schreiber. She is still alive and is 96 years of age right now.
After she got divorced form Skorzeny, she got married two more times again. Today she lives in Vienna/Austria.
Regards, Fehu

Perhaps Otto Skorzeny had 3 wives, as suggested by Wilhelm Hoetll in 'The Secret Front'. Here's the theory:

Wife 1: 'Gretl', as mentioned in My Commando Operations, p 19. 19 years old in May 1934. Fits the bill of Margareta Schreiber mentioned by Fehu. Was she the daughter of the owner of a construction/scaffolding company in which Skorzeny became junior partner about that time?

Wife 2: Emmi Linhart. Probable marriage date: March 1938. Mother of Skorzeny's only child Waltraut (now Frau Weiss), born c.Feb 1940. Divorced c.1950 because of –

Wife 3. Ilse Luthje, the "Countess" Fincke von Finckenstein, born 1919 Kiel, died c.2001. Met Skorzeny in 1949 (Bavaria); married him in Madrid, c. March 1954.

Substantiation/Critique of above welcomed. Anyone in possession of Skorzeny's full SS file may be able to help, since the wives were surely vetted. I don't have it. :D

Attempt a photographic reconstruction of the family of Otto. Otto is here with his daughter Waltraud. I do not know if already published in the Forum.

Hi,
I think he was married 3 times. First in 1931, 1934 or 1937 (see attached pic) on Greta. Second time 09.03.1938 (? see pic) on Emilie, she gave birth to his daughter. Third time - 01.03.1954 on Ilse. I can presume, that in his card that information about the first marriage is rubbed, but the date of entering into the second marriage I see as 1938. One more question - why Dr. Nikolaus v. Preradovich is silent about the first marriage?

Also there is information that in Spain he had an illegitimate son Alberto da Kosta.

Thanks for that, Semenov. Any further information on Alberto da Costa? (e.g., who the mother was? And is he still alive?)

Referring to Semenov's image again, is the date of birth of "Emmy Linhart" 6th of January 1916? Place of birth: Vienna Neustadt?
