Else Margrethe Krüger ....
Else Margrethe Krüger (*9.2.1915 - †?)
---
Born in Hamburg-Altona, Else Krüger was Martin Bormann's secretary. Not a whole lot is known about her, and she has apparently not written any (yet published) memoir.

She was in the Führerbunker during the Battle of Berlin. Krüger left the Bunker with the group led by SS Brigadeführer Wilhelm Mohnke. On the morning of May 2nd, the group surrendered, but Krüger avoided Soviet capture and fled to the West.

Else was interrogated by the British and later married her British interrogator, Leslie James (1915-1995), on December 23rd, 1947 in Wallasey, Cheshire UK.

It is rumored that after her husbonds death (18.8.1995), she returnd to Germany, living near Hamburg. Whether she is still alive is unknown, but in that case she would be over a hundred years of age.

Interestingly, some indication exists (gossip in the James-family) that a memoir has been written for publishing posthumeously.

Is there any information on whether or not Else Margrethe Krüger has passed on or that a book is imminent?

Hi Annelie,

Else James, born Krüger passed away on the 24th January 2005 in Staufen im Breisgau.

She was cremated and her urn buried along side her husband and also former British interrogator Dr Leslie James.

After I passed on her son's details to a newspaper reporter, he got in contact but stated he did not wish to comment on his mother. From my understanding there is no book, another rumour as usual.

I hope that this helps.

Kind regards from Obersalzberg,

Tom

Thankyou Tom.

Might have been an interesting read if there was a book.
