Haushaltungsschule

Post by Mannheim » 08 Jan 2020 20:16

My mother-in-law went to a Haushaltungsschule (Home Duties) school in Wuppertal in 1935 after finishing junior high school at fifteen. My question: were there other options for girls at this time or were they all sent to schools of this type? Were the Haushaltungsschule a Nazi initiative?

No, I don't think these were Nazi invention, but some time after 1933 they were taken over and run by BDM.
Not sure about history of school in Wuppertal. Perhaps you can check in address books when exactly this school was established.
If we become increasingly humble about how little we know, we may be more eager to search.
