Hello,

Maria May what a short and beautiful name. I have met her in Kempner's book Das Dritte Reich. Kempner was a jewish lawyer, born German, who worked for the US during the Nuremberg trial. He interviewed her at this occasion. She said that Ribbentrop gave her only 80.000 RM in all during the war. Her activities seem not clear. She looks like an agent. She was officially mode designer. During the war she traveled in Spain, France, Italy, Sweden.
At one point she talks about 5 millions of RM in gold that Ribbentrop gave her to move it in Schlewig Holstein.
She also talks about her brother who, she said, had a "full jewish" woman. He was also "Landeskonservator" which appears to be a big responsability.

Is it true ? All she is talking about looks like fairy tale : millions in gold, her brother having big responsability but married to a full jewish woman... I wonder in what extent is that true ?

Good afternoon David,

I am a little bit fond about everthing around "Bauhaus" design, and Maria May was famous for her web work.

Maria May / Textile Designer: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maria_May ... esignerin)

You probably already know the links about her, sorry...

You're welcome.

Yes, she was a famous designer and was recruited by Ribbentrop to redesign the interior of the AA building in Berlin and some German embassies abroad.
But she was a bit more than that since she convoyed some millions of RM in the name of Ribbentrop in the end of the war.
