Re: Bund Deutscher Mädel
Hello beinbruch,
"The Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM) was the female branch of the Hitler Youth (HJ) during the Nazi era. In line with the totalitarian goals of the Nazi regime, girls between the ages of 14 and 18 were organized in this organization. In addition, the Hitler Youth had the Jungmädelbund (JM) for 10- to 14-year-old girls.
Due to the compulsory membership of all female youth, which was regulated by law from 1936, unless they were excluded for "racial reasons", the BDM formed the largest female youth organization in the world at the time in terms of numbers, with 4.5 million members in 1944.
Baldur von Schirach, who was appointed Reich Youth Leader on June 17, 1933, immediately issued decrees dissolving or banning the competing youth associations that had existed until then. The forced incorporation of these youth groups - insofar as they did not dissolve themselves in order to escape the grasp of the National Socialists - meant that the HJ and BDM experienced a large increase in membership. Youth groups that had not yet been brought into line (due to the Reich Concordat, this applied exclusively to Catholic youth work) were often subjected to harassment with the goal of forced integration into the National Socialist youth associations. With the "Law on the Hitler Youth" of December 1, 1936, all young people in the German Reich were conscripted into membership in the HJ or BDM."

Like Micha said, yes! Since 1936, all Aryan girls were framed in the organization while they were in high school. At age 14, they were sent for a Landjahr period to farms to provide a service of 4 to 6 months.
This postcard for example, taken in Aachen in 1940 show us a regular class in a High School.

Here you can see some pictures of the compulsory service of the BDM, in the Landjahr on the Lager Pole, in the Schloss Eberstein, in Baden-Baden.

Hi beinbruch: I interviewed several women who were in the BDM. They learned home economics. During the war they helped in the military for ex. "FLAK Hilferin." But were also trained in doing First Aids. The uniform was mandatory and the parents have to pay for it. If your parents were not able to afford, the jacket, then you didn't wear it. At least that is what those ladies told me. All of them are enjoying the eternal rest.

A lot was posted here before: viewtopic.php?f=77&t=251659&p=2289504&h ... l#p2289504
Even without being an old Nazi, or even a neo-Nazi, I really like the attached photo:
Photographically excellent, fully on the line at the time, beauty, care, responsibility.
Only rarely have I personally seen a better photo from the BDM era, the source of the photo is unfortunately unknown to me.

P.S. And no, I'm very certainly not an ignorant person who gets hung up on beauty, the photos of the time are beautifully disturbing, history, have survived.

The source is the magazine "Das Deutsche Mädel", I have the number but I can´t remember which is... A lot of beautiful images like this during the publications... a little hard to find.
Best regards,
Helly.

Re: Bund Deutscher Mädel
Good afternoon Helly,
thanks for your reply, the former german publication "Das Deutsche Mädel" is known to me.
Das Deutsche Mädel (Wikipedia G) https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Das_Deutsche_Mädel
(By the way, the german article in Wikipedia is quite appropriate, neutral/critical, not every article in german Wikipedia is nonsense, or pulled by the hair. )
ZVAB / Das Deutsche Mädel https://www.zvab.com/buch-suchen/titel/ ... f%FChrung/
Die Zeitschrift des Bundes Deutscher Mädel in der HJ http://hitlerjugendzeit.bplaced.net/maedel.htm
Start page / BDM http://hitlerjugendzeit.bplaced.net/bdm.htm
The name of the photographer of the above shot would be interesting to know, but as always, that's another question...?

Re: Bund Deutscher Mädel
It is indeed a really good photo overall.
Here, i have a better version than the one you posted.
Better resolution
Better approach to alamy watermark removal full manual approach (i think the person that removed the watermark from the picture you posted used some sort of automation to remove the alamy nonsense and as a result of course many parts were badly made)
Hope it helps you or some other guy that doesn't have it, if you guys don't have the original version that is.

If you find more alamy lines on it pls let me know

Re: Bund Deutscher Mädel
Thanks to predattak,
It is an identical photo, uploaded here by you in a higher resolution.
Whether on the two pictures possible digital watermarks were removed afterwards, that is unfortunately beyond my knowledge.
As before, it would be interesting to know which photographer at the time took the photo, speculation about this spare the forum, very sure an answer will be found at a later time.
Thanks so far, and have a good weekend!
