Dear all

Somebody asked once after the Schwester Pia (sister Pia). She was a bloodorder-holder.

I have read a book (Hitlers List, Ein Dokument persönlicher Beziehungen, from Anton Joachimsthaler). In this book is the cirrculum vitae. Here are some informations:

1. She was born as Elenore Mayer, 7.9.1885 in Kirchdorf bei Bad Aibling (Landkreis Rosenheim, Bayern)

2. First she married a man with the name Ludwig Baur (this name is written without "e"). The wedding was 1909. Divorced 1913. Then she married 21.3.1923 she married Georg Sponseil. 1935 she divorced from Georg Sponseil. She took back the name of his first husbund Baur.

3. 17.5.1905 she received a son, called Wilhelm Mayer, later he was adopted by Ludwig Baur. That is the reason that his name was Wilhelm Baur. Wilhelm Baur entered in the NSDAP 1925 and received the Number 51. Later he became member of the SS with the number 293'750. 1.6.1938 he became SS-Standartenführer in teh Stab SS-Hauptamt. He died as S-Standartenführer in the Stab SS-Oberabschnitt Spree in January 1945.

4. Eleonere Baur entered January 1920 she entered in the DAP, first name of the NSDAP, with number 506, and not like many authors wrote with the number 511. She thought as blood order holder she have not to pay any fee for the NSDAP. But she was wrong, that is the reason that she entered only 1. may 1937 in the NSDAP with the Number 5'096034.

5. She saw Hitler not very much the first time End 1919. She saw also once Heinirch Himmler and he asked her if she would be civilian employee of the SS. So she became Beginning of 1934 "Fürsorgesschwester der SS". Her duty was to help injured SS-members. She earned 320 Reichsmark a month and had a car with chauffeur.

6. She was the only female receiving the blood order (number 61).

7. Nobody in the SS or in the NSDAP waas fan of her because she was not very intelligent, ugly and she ment that she was the best.

8. She wore the name Schwester Pia from 1914, because she said that she was an "wild nurse", that means she was not attached to a nurse organisation.

9. After the war she had some sentences She died 18. may 1981 in Munich in the age of 95.

Thank you Thomas. Here is Schwester pia participating in the 1938 Neunte Elfte march. She can be seen wearing her Blood Order as she can in the enlargement of the above photo. She tended the wounded on 9 November 1923 and I understood that she was popular with Hitler and among the Alte Kämpfer. Diroll has her listed as a SS-Ehren-Oberführerin and Ehrenoberin der "NS-Schwesternschaft" from 1934. She remained a true National Socialist until the day she died.

Yes she was until her death a fanatic nazi. But she was not very popular to Hitler. After a few meetings with Hitler, he did not want to see her anymore. Even the chauffeur of her said 1949: "Bei einem Besuch Himmlers hat Pia die Gelegenheit benützt, ihm eine Angelegenheit vorzutragen. Er hat sie angehört und nach ihrem Abgang zu Schnitzler gesagt: Wenn Sie nochmals dieses Weib hereinlassen, wenn ich hier, dann erzähle ich Ihnen was anderes."

So you see she was even in the SS not really loved. Then it seems that she was really primitive not only in the words also in the behavior.

In the book is written that she became 1936 Ehrenoberin der "braunen Schwestern". That could really be the NS-Schwesternschaft.

Your photo is surely the same like the one which is in my message, we can see more especially the Blood order.

Attached you will find a photo of her with Hitler.

If I'm not mistaken, She was also with the Freikorps Oberland in Oberschlesien in 1921.

It seems she were there, because this are only her own oppinion. It seems she worked on the "Sanitätskompanie des Professors Lebsche" and as "Sturmtruppenschwester beim 1. Bann Oberland". So it seems she was in the battle of Annaberg, were she seems to be wounded by a shotin the right leg. It seems she received some "awards" like "Schlesischen Adlersorde", "das silberne Kreuz für Tapferkeit und Treue" and "das Baltikumkreuz" directly from Korvettenkapitän Ehrhardt.

Hello,

I have just registered after coming across information of interest in a nursing research project in which I am participating with a professor at the nursing school at the Medical University of South Carolina.

We are researching the participation of nurses in the experimentation done on those held as prisoners in the concentration camps. At this time I am trying to find background on a nurse at Dachau, Eleonore Baur aka Blutschetzer Pia. I did see the few posts but I was hoping you would be able to direct me to any original (or later) documentation, books, articles, and such concerning this woman. Any help would be appreciated.

I am having some trouble with finding out about her trial at Nuremberg at which I believe she was sentenced for some years for her crimes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you would prefer to get in touch by "snail mail" or personally, please simply let me know. And again, thank you.

Oh, just as a bit of background: I am a Baby Boomer. My father and mother both served in the military during WWII. My father was also in the military for Korea and part of Vietnam. Mom was a Navy nurse in Guam; my father was a reconnaisence photographer, going behind enemy lines to provide information. He never really talked about it very much and they both died before I was grown.

Dear Thomas et al

I'm very interested in Sister Pia, as a possible research project, particulary her activities pre and during WW2 at Dachau.

Does anyone have any info about her Nuremberg trial as I've had difficulties finding information on the official sites, and post-war, where was she imprisoned and where did she live at the end of her life?

I'd also be grateful for info on any useful books or documents as there is a lack of information about her in the public domain.

If she "contributed" in the nuremberg trials, was a witness, defendant or whatever her testimony will definately be in the official record. There is a couple of sites putting all the testimony on the web so it should not be hard to find. I have taken days reading some of what is out there.
There is not a great deal written out there, which is why I suppose we are all crying out for more information on women in the 3rd reich!

From at least two sources (will have to look them up and post them later), Eleonore Baur was tried in Munich by an American Tribunal, rather than at the Doctor's Trial at Nuremberg. Of course, she openly admitted and was unapologetic for any of her actions in Dachau, seeing nothing wrong with them.
