Post by wwiimil » 04 Aug 2005, 19:14

Thanks for the kind comments on some of my other posts. There seems to be good interest in IDs for women so I will stay with this theme for a while till you tell me to stop. I will show the later style RAD Female tomorrow

wwiimil,

Don't....stop.....! :D

Seriously, DON'T stop!!! Female RAD items are really beautiful, second only (maybe, in my opinion) to Frauenschaft items. Great Frauenarbeitsdienst I.D., and I can't wait to see more of your RADwJ stuff! And great image of it---you've obviously got better facility with a scanner than I do!

I must have only just noticed this one, can't think why I missed it.
Does the memebr number correspond with the numbers stamped on the back of the brooches?
Just checking to see if anyone knows!

While I am on the subject, can we have a ladies section please moderators? One that lets us discuss and share pics of all things Helferin, BDM, RADwJ etc?

Here is a pic of my friend Edgar's wife Helga. She served with the RAD before becomming an office with the search light unit with the luftwaffe.

There are some nice documents posted here, wwii mil and ancasta, thanks.
I agree, as I have myself asked also (and earned Marcus's ire :) ) that there should be a TR women's section. There is neat female stuff posted all over the place and sometimes it's hard to find it.

Hi there pzrwest. Thank you for posting the portrait :-)
As for Flak I suppose a bit like these lovely ladies? I'm sorry about the watermark [denoting its obvious source], but I couldnt resist posting it here.
I would love to hear her account of her time in service. I am part German and can speak the language. Would she be willing to share her story with me?

A nice pic showing some interesting uniform detail. One of the ladies is wearing a party membership brooch.

Hi Ancasta Edgar, Helga's hubby was here today for a visit and is going to make me a Schemel for my impression. Edgar and Helga live about 3/4's of an hour from the house here. He served on u-boots specifically U650 and ended the war on U901. As for Helga she is not well is now bed ridden and just a matter of time really she is not well. Edgar is a wealth of knowledge but Helga is pretty tight lipped the info I already posted was about all I could get her to talk about says too many painfull memories. As for Edgar he did an audio session with me where he talked about his u-boot service I have audio files on my KKA Nord website if you would like to hear Edgar talk of his service here is the link to my website http://www.angelfire.com/on4/schultzsgt you can select the Edgar Interviews from my sitemap page

Great photos and information!

Pzrwest, I'm sorry to hear of your friend Helga's condition. Sadly, just as with the male veterans, it won't be too many more years before there will be no more people who experienced the period left.

I'm also sorry to hear about Helga's ill health. Sadly some lady veterans, especially if they served in the East, find it a little too much to bear when it comes to reliving their past. I wish her all the best.

Could you kindly ask Edgar if he remembers anything of the Marinehelferin? There's several gaps I need to fill as there is not enough known about them. I am available via e-mail and PM.
